The most commonly treated areas include:
- Nasolabial folds or smile lines
- Lip enhancement for definition and/or volume
- Cheek fullness
- Jawline for definition
- Earlobe rejuvenation
- Temporal hollows
- Top of hands to add volume and minimize the appearance of veins
After the initial consultation, a treatment session may take 20 to 30 minutes. A numbing cream or ice is commonly used for greater patient comfort. Juvederm® is now manufactured with lidocaine or freezing crystals mixed in with the product to allow for a much more comfortable injection. To maintain optimal correction, you may need maintenance treatments every 6 to 9 months, depending on the indication treated and the amount of product used. It is suggested to retreat the area before it returns to its pretreatment state.
Risks and Complications
Complications or adverse reactions can include prolonged redness, swelling, bruising or tenderness at the injection site. Induration, or a hardening of the skin in the form of nodules, is rare but can be softened with hyaluronidase, an injectable solution which dissolves the Juvederm® product. Temporary discolouration may also appear at the injection site but this will disappear as the product is reabsorbed by the enzymes in the body.
Cost
The cost of the injection will depend upon the number of areas treated and the amount of product needed to achieve the desired outcome. Loyalty pricing is available. Please contact our office for further information.
