Who is a candidate for laser hair removal?
Men and women of all skin types. Some medications and medical conditions can interfere with treatments. Your technician, along with Dr. Brown will review your history and assess your suitability. Laser hair removal is not recommended during pregnancy. These treatments cannot be done on anyone who has taken Accutane within the past 6 months. White, grey or red hair is not responsive to this treatment.
What areas can be treated?
Most areas of the body can be treated with laser hair removal. Exceptions include around the eyebrows, inside the nose and ears. The length of the treatment time is dependent on the area being treated. Smaller areas may take as little as 20 minutes, while larger areas may take an hour or more.
How many treatments do I need?
The average number of treatments is six, although people with darker skin or lighter, finer hair may require more treatments. It is normal to require occasional touch-up treatments.
What can I expect during the treatment?
There is a sensation that is similar to an elastic band snapping against the skin. The area being treated will be covered with cold gel which helps reduce the sensation. Topical numbing creams are also available for added comfort.
What can I expect after the treatment?
These sessions are designed to provide no downtime. Some irritation – similar to a mild sunburn – can be experienced afterwards.
